As a SkillBridge Acquisition Management Specialist Intern with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity learn the following: Learn from Subject Matter Experts on topics such as Acquisition Planning, Contract Management, Performance-Based Logistics (PBL), Compliance and Reporting, and Stakeholder Engagement Throughout the internship, the SkillBridge Intern will learn and understand how to: Learning with Acquisition Planning: Develop and execute acquisition strategies, including market research, cost-benefit analysis, and risk assessments, focusing on PBL solutions. Participate in planning, budgeting, and scheduling acquisition priorities aligned with mission objectives. Learning with Contract Management: Prepare, review, and manage all documentation associated with solicitation, evaluation, award, and administration of contracts, with an emphasis on PBL contracts. Evaluate contractor proposals and negotiate terms to ensure successful program delivery and incentives aligned with PBL goals. Monitor contractor performance through data analysis, field/site visits, and performance scorecards. Learning with Performance-Based Logistics Implementation: Design and implement PBL strategies to ensure optimal product support, continuous process improvement, and cost-effectiveness across the lifecycle of weapon systems and equipment. Work with logistics, engineering, and program management teams to define measurable outcomes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and sustainment metrics. Learning with Compliance & Reporting: Ensure acquisition activities comply with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), DFAR PGI, NMCAR, and other DoD-specific policies. Prepare and present reports, contract status updates, and briefings to stakeholders and leadership. Learning with Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate coordination between internal and external stakeholders, including technical experts, end-users, industry partners, and leadership. Address and resolve issues related to contract performance, modifications, and changes in requirements.
