It's More Than a Job, It's a Career Why You Want This Job and Why It's Awesome High school students considered for internship positions at Tucson Proving Ground should have an interest in large mining equipment such as haul trucks, bulldozers, and motor graders. All positions require teamwork and quality customer service. You will partner with and be mentored by an experienced technician, with responsibilities that vary from job to job, including: Operating a wash rack to ensure equipment is clean before entering the workshop Diagnosing and repairing mining equipment Instrumenting machines for tests using strain gauges, thermocouples, and accelerometers Fabricating and welding prototype parts for tests Successful performance requires sound judgment, motivation, effective interaction with others, and the ability to handle various responsibilities. Eligibility These positions are open to students who are currently classified as Sophomores (Class of 2028) to Seniors (Class of 2026) currently enrolled and in good academic standing at Sahuarita High School.

Requirements

  • Safety-first mentality
  • Must be 16 years of age and a rising junior by the start of the program
  • Must maintain a 2.5/4.0 cumulative GPA
  • Full-time student attending a high school in the Sahuarita school district
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer program
