The Family Preservation Family Skill Builder is a vital member of the service team assigned to each case, playing a crucial role in providing support services to families under the guidance of the Family Preservation Therapist/Case Manager. The primary objective of this position is to deliver a comprehensive range of services aimed at preventing the out-of-home placement of children. The Skill Builder leverages the strengths of the family to address and resolve issues, ensuring the family unit remains intact. This role involves intensive, in-home family support services that assist in achieving case plan goals, which are tailored to the unique needs of each family. In this position, the Skill Builder will assist in the provision of support services identified through various assessments, including bio-psycho-social assessments and family conferencing. The Skill Builder will also be responsible for referring clients to community services and facilitating necessary appointments. In cases where out-of-home placement may be necessary, the Skill Builder will research potential relative and kin placements to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children involved. Participation in family conferencing, family meetings, and team decision-making processes is essential to support the case plan goals effectively. The Skill Builder will provide direct in-home services that encompass parenting skills, life skills, child development, and behavior management. Familiarity with and utilization of the Strengthening Families curriculum is expected. Scheduling and supervising family interactions, as well as transporting children and families, are also key responsibilities. The role includes providing 24/7 crisis intervention for referred families, which may involve being on-call. Documentation of all contacts with families and relevant parties must be maintained in the agency database, and all necessary forms and reports must be completed in accordance with established timelines. Additionally, the Skill Builder will attend court hearings and provide testimony as required, assisting the Therapist/Case Manager in ensuring that clients' rights are upheld. Reporting critical incidents to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Saint Francis Ministries Risk Management Department is a critical aspect of this role. The Skill Builder must possess a working knowledge of the Family Preservation contractual requirements as outlined by the State of Nebraska DHHS and adhere to all safety procedures, policies, and regulations set forth by Saint Francis Ministries.
