About The Position

i3 is proud to help our nation's military personnel make the transition to civilian careers through the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge program. These opportunities are specifically for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. Participants are not eligible for compensation as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members. i3 will consider any active-duty member that is eligible for the DoD SkillBridge program; however, for immediate consideration, we are looking for Military members to fill the following role: Graphic Designer.

Requirements

• Must be a current Active Duty Servicemember.
• Must be separating from the Military within 180 days.
• Will receive an honorable discharge.
• Must be able to complete 40 hours per week.
• Willingness to learn from others on the job.
• Received Unit Commander written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.
• Bachelors' Degree in Graphic Design or related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree.
• Working knowledge and skill in design tools, for example, Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, After Effects, and/or other Adobe Creative Suite products.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts clearly and persuasively across audiences at various levels of understanding.
• Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
• Ability to work with other designers and developers to implement new ideas.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Adobe Captivate authoring tool.
• Previous experience in collaboration with system and software engineers on UI implementation.
• Working knowledge and/or understanding of prototyping tools like Sketch, Figma, Balsamic, etc.
• Experience outside of 2D production that demonstrates a variability of design skills.
• Understanding and appreciation of standard user interface design concepts.
• Understanding of foundational design principles and practices, typography and color, and multi-device usability standards.

Responsibilities

• Specialization in producing high-fidelity 2D graphics.
• Craft motion graphics and ensure implementation by software engineers is solid.
• Design for desktop-based and/or tablet-based UIs.
• Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with software engineers and other stakeholders.
• Illustrate design ideas to product stakeholders using mockups as needed.
• Provide feedback to software engineers as designs are implemented to ensure user experience is cohesive and accurate.
• Regularly workshop efforts with the Creative Director and the Creative Operations team to maintain a cohesive design and user experience of the digital product.
• Leverage design thinking and questioning techniques to develop strategies where pathways are not always clear.
