About The Position

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Bobcat operators utilize the experience, skills, and technical knowledge to operate Bobcat equipment efficiently and safely. POSITION QUALIFICATION/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record, ensuring that you have a history of responsible and safe driving. A strong understanding of Bobcat equipment and its various components is important. This includes familiarity with control mechanisms, hydraulic systems, attachments, and basic maintenance procedures. Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to follow safe operating procedures is critical to ensure the well-being of yourself and others on the worksite. Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Effective communication is crucial when working as a Bobcat operator, as it involves coordination with other team members on the worksite. Clear and concise communication helps ensure smooth workflow, safety, and the ability to understand instructions and relay information accurately. Bobcat operators may encounter obstacles or challenging situations on the worksite. The ability to assess situations, make decisions, and find solutions quickly and effectively is highly beneficial. Problem-solving skills are essential for identifying potential hazards, troubleshooting equipment issues, and adapting to changing work conditions. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Industry-related experience is required for this position, with an emphasis on roads, and highways. Possessing relevant certifications or completing training programs in equipment operation and safety can enhance your qualifications. Look for certifications such as the Bobcat Operator Certification or training from recognized organizations that provide comprehensive training in operating and maintaining Bobcat equipment. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential; Fluency in speaking and writing in English and Spanish is preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical ability includes lifting 25 to 50 lbs. with occasional lifting up to 75 lbs., climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, pulling, driving, use of labor tools such as shovel, broom, blower. Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, talking and hearing. Ability to stay alert and work around dirt, dust, noise associated with heavy equipment, and all-weather conditions. May require sitting for extended periods of time. Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth and the ability to focus. A high level of awareness to surroundings and environment; and proper use of supplied Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is always required as occasional exposure to environmental, occupational, and chemical hazards may be present (including but not limited to dust, fumes, uneven terrain, flammable materials, toxic materials, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Properly follow TransPremier’s company safety requirements and procedures.
  • Operate a skid steer near equipment and the public safely.
  • Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
  • Understands how weight distribution affects skid-steer loader steering and stability.
  • Know the fundamentals of safe entering, exiting, maneuvering, traveling, and working with ALL attachments (Mill Head, Broom & Bucket).
  • Work will be performed per client’s and/or TransPremier Foreperson's/Supervisor’s/Superintendent’s/Project Manager’s instruction.
  • Obey all laws and follow dispatch instructions.
  • Operators are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA, MSHA and our Safety Equipment Policy
  • Properly follow equipment operating procedures that include, but are not limited to: Adherence to TransPremier policies and prohibitions. Performing and documenting thorough Pre & Post trip inspections. Use of telematics key fob Adherence to traffic laws, governmental regulation, and MOT procedures.
  • Properly follow Jobsite procedures that include, but are not limited to: Adherence to customer Safety Policies and regulations. Adherence to proper loading and unloading procedures of different type of materials to material transfer equipment such Dump Trucks, Sweeper Trucks, loaders, pavers, shuttle buggies or other material transfer equipment. Proper use of CB radio, stereo, and other communication channels. Proper use of milling head, broom, bucket, and any other attachment in a safe and efficient manner. Avoid private/public damage such as manholes, curbs, lawns, grass.
  • Properly follow environmental procedures that include, but are not limited to: Ensuring material is safely loaded and secured to avoid spills. Using extreme caution while operating equipment in landscaped areas to avoid driving over grass, damaging sprinkler systems or damaging manicured vegetation. Know how and when to use water attachments to reduce the spread of silica dust. Ensure equipment has no leaks to avoid contamination of roads or vegetation.
  • Properly follow all equipment maintenance requirements that include, but are not limited to: Maintaining cleanliness and proper use of all cabin’s interior accessories, controls, upholstery, windows, flooring, and any other component found inside the cabin. Maintain cleanliness and proper use of components subject to constant contact or exposure to asphalt, milling or other materials. It is prohibited to alter/remove equipment inner or outer aesthetic without consent of shop (i.e., GPS, radio, steering wheel, paint). Applies to pre & post shift operations.
  • Accurately enter and record job specific information on written and/or digital forms.
  • Must report to the assigned job site/vehicle parking location and be ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Attend pre-shift client JHA/JSA meeting.
  • Immediately report all incidents and accidents to a TransPremier supervisor, following the reporting and investigations procedures detailed in the employee handbook.
  • Following these safety and environmental procedures will help ensure that we are all working toward this goal.
