POSITION OBJECTIVE: Bobcat operators utilize the experience, skills, and technical knowledge to operate Bobcat equipment efficiently and safely. POSITION QUALIFICATION/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record, ensuring that you have a history of responsible and safe driving. A strong understanding of Bobcat equipment and its various components is important. This includes familiarity with control mechanisms, hydraulic systems, attachments, and basic maintenance procedures. Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to follow safe operating procedures is critical to ensure the well-being of yourself and others on the worksite. Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Effective communication is crucial when working as a Bobcat operator, as it involves coordination with other team members on the worksite. Clear and concise communication helps ensure smooth workflow, safety, and the ability to understand instructions and relay information accurately. Bobcat operators may encounter obstacles or challenging situations on the worksite. The ability to assess situations, make decisions, and find solutions quickly and effectively is highly beneficial. Problem-solving skills are essential for identifying potential hazards, troubleshooting equipment issues, and adapting to changing work conditions. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred. Industry-related experience is required for this position, with an emphasis on roads, and highways. Possessing relevant certifications or completing training programs in equipment operation and safety can enhance your qualifications. Look for certifications such as the Bobcat Operator Certification or training from recognized organizations that provide comprehensive training in operating and maintaining Bobcat equipment. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential; Fluency in speaking and writing in English and Spanish is preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical ability includes lifting 25 to 50 lbs. with occasional lifting up to 75 lbs., climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, pulling, driving, use of labor tools such as shovel, broom, blower. Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, talking and hearing. Ability to stay alert and work around dirt, dust, noise associated with heavy equipment, and all-weather conditions. May require sitting for extended periods of time. Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth and the ability to focus. A high level of awareness to surroundings and environment; and proper use of supplied Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is always required as occasional exposure to environmental, occupational, and chemical hazards may be present (including but not limited to dust, fumes, uneven terrain, flammable materials, toxic materials, etc.)
