About The Position

Eldora is the backyard winter mountain playground for Greater Denver, Boulder County, and Colorado's northern Front Range. Eldora is located just outside of the charming mountain town of Nederland, Colorado, about 20 miles west of Boulder and less than 50 miles from downtown Denver. Eldora strives to deliver Colorado’s Front Range the most memorable outdoor adventures to locals and out-of-town visitors. Eldora Mountain Resort employs up to 700 employees at peak season and has 680 acres of lift-accessible terrain for skiing and snowboarding, including a Woodward Mountain Park experience, and a world class Nordic Center. Patrollers are expected to be model exceptional risk management and safety practices, to educated guests on appropriate skiing and riding, enforce Eldora policies if necessary and to contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the ski area. Requirements

  • Has valid US Driver’s License & ability to meet company standards for MVR.
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of merchandising food and beverage products/retail sales.
  • Ability to move safely and efficiently on foot, ski/snowboard, or snowmobile across mountainous terrain in a winter environment while carrying equipment that occasionally exceeds 50 pounds or pulling/dragging equipment that occasionally exceeds 100 pounds.
  • Can work outside while standing or skiing in a high alpine, wintery environment for up to 10 hours
  • Able to lift 10-25 pounds 2/3rds of the time or more, able to lift 50 pounds 1/3 to 2/3rds of the time, able to lift 100 pounds up to 1/3rd of the time
  • Can perform the following activities constantly: walking, using hands to finger/feel, reaching with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear
  • Vision Requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to operate a snowmobile, including necessary vision, hearing, fine and gross motor skills
  • Withstand high altitude conditions at all times

Responsibilities

  • Patient care and transport of injured guests.
  • Daily setup, maintenance, and storage of mountain signage, ropes and hazard markings.
  • Educate guests and enforce ski area policies and relevant CO statutes and regulations.
  • Be a visible presence on the hill to support guest service and safety initiatives.
  • Model appropriate skiing or riding to the public based on skier density, snow conditions and terrain selection.
  • Terrain and facility risk management including conducting incident investigations and documentation.
  • Hazard warning and mitigation, including avalanche hazard, in preparation for opening terrain.
  • Other duties working to contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the ski area may be assigned.
  • Sets the example by following all company safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to a safe working environment for self, coworkers, and guests.
  • All employees are expected to support Eldora’s corporate responsibility commitment to protect the environment by participating in our Sustainable Transportation Program. This includes choosing alternative transportation, carpooling, using the employee shuttle, and avoiding onsite parking on weekends and peak days. These actions help reduce Scope 3 emissions, lead by example, and ensure adequate parking for our guests.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required by resort operations.
