About The Position

To maintain and promote the safety of participants, provide first-aid assistance and transporting injured participants.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Intermediate level skier or higher
  • Have Current EMT Certification or Wilderness First Rescure Certifcaiton
  • Current Outdoor Emergency Transportation (OET) qualification
  • Alpine or Nordic patrollers may apply
  • Complete annual OEC, OET and CPR refreshers as required
  • Good communication skills; both written and verbal, including radio communications
  • Professional appearance: ski helmet must be worn, wear standard red patrol jacket/vest with white cross and black pants
  • Team focused; friendly and adaptable
  • Must be punctual, reliable, able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
  • Must be capable of balancing, climbing, reaching, squatting, bending, kneeling, stopping, crawling, using equipment controls and push, lift or pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Will be required to climb stairs, walk up and down inclines and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work effectively in extreme cold weather conditions and in other inclement weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs. of material routinely unassisted and occasionally up to 80 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • NSPS member in good standing preferred, but not required
  • Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Lift safety checks: report any problems identified
  • Check slopes for hazards and mark as appropriate
  • Setup and breakdown additional netting required each operational day
  • Monitor trail conditions
  • Respond to possible accidents
  • Provide emergency medical care
  • Transport patients; including from most difficult terrain
  • Handle incidents through transfer to EMS
  • Keep records and assist in accident investigation
  • Inspect and maintain ski patrol equipment and supplies
  • Perform chairlift evacuations if necessary
  • Safely perform all job duties and responsibilities
  • Work together with other staff/departments as needed
