The SIU Investigator position at Allied Universal® Compliance and Investigation Services involves investigating suspected fraudulent insurance claims across various coverage types. The role requires a strong understanding of insurance policies and fraud detection, with responsibilities including gathering information, maintaining documentation, and producing detailed reports. This part-time position offers flexibility with remote work options and is part of a diverse and inclusive team committed to excellence in the insurance industry.

  • Independently investigate suspected fraudulent insurance claims for various coverage types including workers' compensation, general liability, property and casualty, and disability.
  • Acquire and gather information through discretion and guidance from clients and case managers, utilizing data collection, interviews, research, and collaboration with SIU entities, law enforcement, and state Departments of Insurance.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for investigations, file reviews, audits, training tasks, consulting projects, and other assignments as directed.
  • Produce professional and expert reports, memos, and letters that are clear, concise, and grammatically correct.
  • Run appropriate database indices if necessary and verify the accuracy of results found.
  • Independently develop a strategic plan to achieve assignment objectives, ensuring thorough documentation and effective communication with clients and their Special Investigation Unit Supervisor.
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a High School diploma with a minimum of five (5) years of professional law enforcement experience focused on fraud investigations.
  • Ability to be properly licensed as a Private Investigator as required by the state of work.
  • Post-offer, must complete the Allied Universal Investigations training/orientation course successfully.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience conducting complex insurance investigations or adjusting complex insurance claims.
  • Proficient understanding and application of anti-fraud laws, insurance regulations, and compliance standards within their home state and designated regional area.
  • Proficient in utilizing laptop computers and cell phones.
  • Knowledge of Special Investigative Unit (SIU) Compliance.
  • Ability to type 40+ words per minute with minimum error.
  • Flexibility to work varied and irregular hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Military experience

  • Familiarity with California SIU regulations
  • Certified Fraud Investigator (CFE) certification
  • Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI) certification
  • Fraud Claim Law Associate (FCLA) certification

  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification
  • Associate in Claims (AIC) certification
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) certification
