About The Position

The Site Supervisor assumes a pivotal role in providing comprehensive oversight of the daily functions at their respective site. This position necessitates a high level of professional preparation and experience in working with young children, as well as supervisory skills to effectively manage staff. The Supervisor must possess the necessary knowledge, experience, and skills in supervision to ensure the smooth operation of the site. The primary focus of the role is to ensure the delivery of high-quality educational and related services to young children and their families, in strict compliance with Head Start Performance Standards. Emphasis is placed on various aspects, including education, early childhood development, health, disabilities services, safety, nutrition, and mental health, collaboration with various stakeholders is imperative to facilitate the provision of integrated services. The Site Supervisor is entrusted with a certain degree of autonomy in carrying out their duties, allowing them to exercise independent judgement. Additionally, this position encompasses oversight of facility management, ensuring that the physical environment meets the highest standards to support the educational and developmental needs of the children.

Requirements

BA in Early Childhood Education, or related field and 2 years of experience working with young children. OR minimum AA in Early Childhood Education, or related early intervention field and 4 years of experience working with children.
Must have experience working with children.
Must have supervisory experience.
Must have current first Aid/CPR card or able to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
Must have current food handler's card or able to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
Must be able to manage confidential information.
Must follow Yakama Nation and YN Head Start Code of Conduct.
Must pass a pre-employment background check.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving Permit.
Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Preference will be given to past/present Head Start parents who meet the qualifications.
Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Effectively communicates the Yakama Nation Head Start program mission, values, and policies to staff, clients, and the wider community, ensuring clarity and understanding.
Demonstrates commitment to the program mission, values, and policies in the execution of daily duties, serving as a role model for others.
Conducts individual staff meetings, bi-weekly staff meetings, and monthly program management meetings, fostering open communication, collaboration, and team synergy.
Ensures strict compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations set forth by the Yakama Nation, Department of Human Services and Yakama Nation Head Start, maintaining a strong commitment to operational excellence.
Facilitates regular and inclusive planning sessions involving relevant individuals and teams, aiming to create and maintain a high-quality program at the assigned center, driven by continuous improvement and best practices.
Establishes and nurtures positive, productive, and collaborative relationships with staff, peers, and parents, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Demonstrates exemplary leadership and supervisory skills, serving as a role model for professionalism, integrity, and dedication.
Develops and implements a stimulating and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children between the ages of 3 and 5, as assigned by the supervisor.
Ensures the effective implementation of research-based curricula that are aligned with the development needs of the children, promoting optimal learning outcomes.
Facilitates through planning preparation, and utilization of appropriate learning materials to deliver engaging and effective instructional activities that support children's growth and development.
Monitors and manages the inventory of site materials, supplies, and equipment, promptly submitting purchase requests within the allocated site budget, ensuring a well-equipped and resourceful learning environment.
Conducts thorough assessments of current and anticipated facility needs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary enhancements.
Ensures the completion, accuracy, and timelines of all center-level documentation and reports, maintaining records in adherence to established protocols.
Ensures integration of Yakama Nation cultural and language elements throughout center under the supervision of component specialists, coordinates, schedules, and conducts developmental, speech, mental health, and other mandatory screenings, for children, ensuring comprehensive assessment and support.
Coordinates and actively participates in ongoing educational assessment activities, employing a critical analysis of center-level assessment data to inform and drive continuous improvement efforts.
Facilitates and actively engages in the organization and implementation of center Parent Committee activities, Fostering meaningful collaboration and involvement of parents.
Actively participates in family/parent involvement and education activities, fostering a supportive and engaging environment for families and promoting their active participation in their child's early education journey.
Facilitates and supports smooth transitions for children transitioning from Yakama Naiton Heald Start to public schools, collaborating closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure a seamless educational journey.
Communicates and collaborates effectively with fellow staff members, including Component Specialist/Coordinators' and program consultants, to ensure comprehensive services and support are provided to parents and families.
Facilitates preparation and maintenance of daily and monthly activity reports for their center as required by program using appropriate forms and meetings established timelines.
Ensure the center meets all applicable health and safety standards.
Participates in program data collection & entry, program self-assessment activities, and staff development activities.
Participates in professional development activities to ensure qualified employee status is established and maintained.
Oversees and assists in the preparation and maintenance of daily and monthly activity reports for the center, utilizing appropriate forms and adhering to established timelines as mandated by the program.
Ensures full compliance with all relevant health and safety standards, maintaining a safe and secure environment within the center.
Actively participates in program data collection and entry, program self-assessment activities, and ongoing professional development opportunities, contributing to the continuous improvement and growth of the program.
Engages in continuous professional development activities to establish and maintain qualified employee status, staying abreast of current best practices and developments in the field.
Performs additional duties as assigned or required, demonstrating flexibility and a strong commitment to supporting the overall success of the program.
