Reimagine What’s Possible Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a world-leading manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking a Site Supervisor for our Midlothian, TX onsite plant. This facility employs 30 personnel, including leadership, administration, operators, drivers, and mechanical staff. The plant operates 24/7 for driver activities, with operations personnel onsite during normal business hours (Monday through Friday) and available on call during non-working hours. All personnel are responsible and accountable for maintaining safety and environmental standards, ensuring the well-being of employees, and supporting overall operations. The candidate will be responsible for reliability, improving efficiency and productivity, and managing labor costs. Additionally, the Site Supervisor is accountable for facility and vehicle maintenance, project execution, reliability initiatives, HR matters, leadership, workforce resource allocation, cost control, and asset management. This is achieved through strong relationships and alignment with horizontally integrated functional support organizations. The position reports directly to the Site Manager. Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the distribution field.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and HAZMAT regulations.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance (PM) programs.
  • Advanced computer literacy.
  • Proficiency in all AP Distribution systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with office staff, drivers, and customers.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and influence others to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop all on-site distribution employees, including Driver Supervisor, Drivers, Site Administrator, and Vehicle Technicians.
  • Oversee daily driver operations at the site and assigned outpost locations; provide real-time after-hours support for drivers and customers.
  • Monitor daily schedules to ensure continuous product supply, coordinating driver availability and equipment resources with maintenance staff.
  • Manage third-party contractor support during major logistical challenges and oversee contract carrier operations, including invoice accuracy.
  • Review driver hour availability daily with Logistics planners to prevent fatigue; analyze completed trips for compliance and demand fulfillment.
  • Lead local EHS program: safety talks, monthly inspections, customer site improvements, and near-miss reporting.
  • Review driver paperwork and data flow; provide real-time coaching to ensure accurate information transfer to Central Logistics.
  • Serve as lead for Samsara driver monitoring system, including training and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with Hours of Service regulations and company policies.
  • Recruit and screen drivers and technicians in collaboration with HR and Talent Acquisition; coordinate onboarding and regulatory training.
  • Manage payroll, vacation schedules, driver bid schedules, compliance programs, random testing, certifications, and vehicle recovery.
  • Oversee Driver Pay for Performance program, analyze data, and implement coaching plans as needed.
  • Support employees through observations, ride-along, site visits, and plant walk-around.
  • Coordinate equipment availability and preventive maintenance with the maintenance team.
  • Travel as needed for site support, training, safety observations, and customer site reviews.
  • Control distribution costs and implement continuous improvement plans; ensure local inventory meets minimum levels.
  • Provide backup oversight for operations and support audits, ISO certifications, and regulatory inquiries.
