About The Position

The Classes Site Supervisor supports the daily operations of OMSI's Summer Classes program. They are responsible for organizing and coordinating class visits with external partners and community organizations, supporting instructor staff, and communicating programming expectations and procedures. Essential Job Responsibilities Organizes and coordinates on-site science classes operations, working closely with Classes Supply Specialists and the Transportation Coordinator; Oversees daily classes operations including supporting instructors and handling in-class student behavior issues; Communicates effectively with students, caregivers, co-workers, and supervisors about programming expectations and procedures; Communicates with community organizations and other outside contacts; Actively integrates diversity, equity, access, and inclusion through a racial equity lens across their work. Secondary Job Responsibilities Secondary responsibilities include-but are not limited to-the following: Teaching or demonstrating science curriculum, as needed; Provides first aid care to participants and staff when necessary; Mentors instructors and assistants; Provides classroom and peer support. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities REQUIREMENTS: Working knowledge of and/or ability to effectively practice project coordination; Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with an emphasis on effectively interacting with and engaging diverse audiences while using a racial equity lens; Demonstrated ability to pivot between individual and team work; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products; Exercises sound judgment while upholding high integrity and ethical standards; Strong interpersonal, verbal, and communication skills that adhere to confidentiality, protocol, and community agreements. Knowledge of current equity, diversity, inclusion and social justice theories and practical applications, including critical theories of systemic oppression, unconscious bias, and personal identity and intersectionality matters; Ability to train staff on visitor/guest-facing best practices, with an emphasis on advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion through a racial equity lens. Education & Work Experience REQUIREMENTS: Minimum one year prior classroom, enrichment, or youth engagement experience; Demonstrated experience or ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often with stringent and overlapping time constraints; Demonstrated experience or ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and talents in a professional work environment. Additional Requirements/Preferences; Including Licenses and Certifications REQUIREMENTS: Pre-employment checks, such as criminal background checks and reference checks; Current CPR and First-Aid Certification. If not licensed , training can be provided at no cost for selected candidates as part of the onboarding process.
