About The Position

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a “small” center, ensuring adherence to State and Federal mandated regulations. Maintain good communication between staff, parents, agency entities, and support services personal. Provides supervision, training, and technical assistance to teaching staff including the modeling of best practices.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development or a related field.
  • 24 units ECE/CD including core courses: Child/Human Growth and Development; Child Family Community and Program/Curriculum, 16 GE units, 6 administration units, 2 adult supervision units, 2-3 years related experience (minimum 3 hours per day) and 100+ days of supervising adults.
  • Site Supervisor Permit or ability to apply within 90 days of hire. Alternative qualifications include BA or higher with 12 ECE units and 3 units supervised field experience in ECE setting and 2-3 years related experience working with children.
  • Supervisory experience necessary with background in child development or early childhood education.
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, criminal record clearance and child abuse index check.
  • Current pediatric CPR and first aid certificate required. Must be obtained from an approved vendor.
  • 16 hours of Health and Safety Training
  • Must be in good health as verified by a current health screening, including a test for tuberculosis, performed under the supervision of a physician not more than one year prior to employment.
  • Must have a current California driver’s license.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures with conformance to the prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from government entities, employees, managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to calculate figures & amounts with a 10 Key.
  • Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables, occasionally in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all center staff and children as required.
  • Set work schedule to be responsive to the needs of the center, including opening and/or closing center daily.
  • Establish a climate of respect for each child’s individual personality, physical characteristics and traits, culture, language, ethnicity, family structure, developmental needs and behaviors.
  • Relate to all children in encouraging and positive ways.
  • Interact with each child to support their learning process including but not limited to:
  • Assisting the child in developing problem solving skills
  • Contributing to the child’s social emotional development
  • Modeling pro-social behaviors for the child
  • Teaching children to be responsible for their decision and actions
  • Guiding children’s behaviors in a positive way that teaches self-respect along with respect for others and the community around them.
  • Maintain clear communication and build positive site moral.
  • Provide orientation, training, motivation, discipline, and evaluation of center staff.
  • Assumes all duties and responsibilities of the Master Teacher, Teacher, and Teacher Assistant as needed.
  • Research, plan, and schedule field trips for center.
  • Arrange for community guests and speakers.
  • Promote quality in learning environments.
  • Ensure maintenance request and work orders are submitted in a timely manner
  • Conduct tours of center as needed.
  • Publish monthly newsletter.
  • Comply with all Title V, State Department of Education, Child Development Division Funding Terms and Conditions and Title XXII, Community Care Licensing regulations and represent Go Kids, Inc., with assigned analysts.
  • Plan, supervise and implement the program in accordance with the policies, philosophy, mission and vision Of Go Kids, Inc.
  • Assist Human Resources Director to recruit, interview and hire center based staff as necessary.
  • Support PAC activities and quality assurance; handling client concerns while providing excellent customer service.
  • Conduct parent meetings (quarterly) and staff meetings (monthly) and document all correspondence.
  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with each child’s parent and/or caregiver
  • Attend monthly Program Managers Meetings.
  • Operate center within established budget guidelines.
  • Market center to support maintaining enrollment at full capacity with goals associated with full fee budget (certified and full fee goals).
  • Work collaboratively with the assigned FSW to maintain enrollment
  • Foster positive working relationships with teaching staff using formal and informal discussions, written communication, observation, and the implementation of best practices.
  • Monitor daily attendance records
  • Coordinate staffs schedules to effectively meet child/teacher ratios of site.
  • Supervise activities of teaching staff
  • Provide orientation training mentoring and modeling to staff as needed
  • Update and maintain children’s licensing files.
  • Ensure lesson plans are complete and posted weekly
  • Complete performance appraisals for master teachers, teachers, and assistant teachers annually.
  • Coach staff as needed.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations to support ongoing improvement of operations.
  • Ensure all necessary reports and paperwork are completed and forwarded to the corporate office.
  • Inventory, order, and maintain all center supplies and materials as necessary.
  • Update and maintain all children’s immunization records.
  • Maintain public relations and community involvement by attending special events and fundraisers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of children, families and employees.
  • Assist with peer counseling and provide feedback and listening as necessary
  • Provide a pleasant, safe and clean learning environment for children and families.
  • Report safety hazards and injuries to HR Director immediately.
  • Keep floors and other necessary spaces clean and free from any potentially dangerous situations
  • Ensure health checks are provided for children on a daily basis.
  • Ensure health and welfare of children and staff is maintained.
  • Ensure that proper health and safety standards for food handling, toileting of young children, hand washing, and universal precautions with exposure to blood are being followed at all times.
  • Ensure safety, fire and earthquake drills are conducted regularly.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Program Director, HR Director, CFO or Executive Director.
