About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and trustworthy individual with excellent customer service skills and detailed oriented individual to clean and maintain a retail commercial center. Ideal candidates will have good communication/previous janitorial, custodian, or related experience, ability to work with customers/vendors, able to perform quality control checks, scheduling, and admin. Must have a valid driver's license, have a dependable vehicle, communicate by email, timekeeping, utilize the phone for incoming, outgoing calls, and text messages. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must pass background check.
  • Valid Hawaii driver's license and a reliable vehicle required.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Must have good public relations skills and communication.
  • Applicants must perform basic manual labor, painting, stain wood, clean common areas, press, push, pull, frequently lift 40lbs, carry a minimum of 25lbs (up to 50lbs), be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, walk, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk up and down the stairs and use a ladder climb up and down and stand throughout their shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous janitorial, custodian experience or related experience is preferred, and willing to train.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively in English with team members and property managers
  • Respond to emails and phone calls promptly
  • Manage and supervise a janitorial team with strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Review and submit employee time cards promptly
  • Pick up supplies as needed
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks: patch potholes, painting walls and parking lot, small repairs and replace bulbs.
  • Read and report water and electric meter readings
  • Maintain cleanliness of common areas within the building
  • Clean restrooms, parking lot, walk path, and restock supplies
  • Remove and dispose of trash in designated areas
  • Operate a pressure wash machine
  • Operate a leaf blower
  • Operate a buffer machine
  • Clean rooftops
  • Patch potholes
  • Push trash bins as needed
  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Use a smartphone to upload information online, communicate by email, and respond to phone calls and text messages
  • Follow safety procedures
  • Report safety issues or building problems (e.g., burnt light bulbs)
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
