About The Position

Gowan/Garrett, Inc. is seeking a Site Safety Representative responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment on construction sites. This position ensures compliance with company safety policies and General Contractor requirements, conducts safety training, and monitors daily site activities for safety infractions.

Requirements

Must demonstrate strong knowledge of construction site safety practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
Proficient in safety documentation and reporting
High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 3 years’ experience in construction safety or a related role
Familiarity with federal, state, and local safety regulations (i.e.: OSHA standards)

Nice To Haves

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
OSHA 30 certification preferred

Responsibilities

Review, approve, and audit pre-task planning documentation
Guide foremen and employees in creating and improving JHA, PSP, and JSAs to ensure they are site-specific and effective risk mitigation tools
Assist with new hire orientations and ongoing safety training for all site personnel
Maintain and update site-specific safety documentation in accordance with: Gowan Garrett Safety Handbook General Contractor safety requirements
Ensure all required safety paperwork is completed, organized, and readily accessible
Implement and enforce safety practices and procedures on the jobsite
Conduct daily safety inspections and provide written reports to the Jobsite Superintendent detailing: Safety infractions Corrective actions Recommendations for improvement
Serve as the point of contact for safety-related concerns and escalate issues as needed
Support incident investigations and ensure proper documentation and follow-up
