Learn more at www.aquatech.com Aquatech has an immediate need for a full-time Site Safety Manager to work in our Baton Rouge, LA, Site location and our Houston, TX office location. The Site Safety Manager will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered an Exempt employee. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have attention to detail, problem solver, be technically knowledgeable, and be team-oriented.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive EHS experience in construction or heavy industrial environments.
  • 3+ years in a site-level EHS leadership role with direct supervisory responsibility.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards and high-hazard construction activities.
  • Experience working with subcontractor-driven construction environments.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and hold teams accountable.
  • High-level decision-making capability in dynamic field environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with corporate, client, and field personnel.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in trend analysis and performance reporting.
  • Proficient with EHS software systems.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, and working at heights.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE while on site.
  • The Site Safety Manager must have the ability to maintain focus in a dynamic and active construction environment.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk on a construction site for up to 8 hours per day.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as CHST, ASP, CSP preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification, OSHA 500/510 preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the project-specific EHS strategy aligned with corporate standards and client requirements.
  • Serve as the primary EHS authority on site.
  • Act as a core member of the project leadership team, advising on risk exposure, high-hazard operations, and critical path activities.
  • Lead risk forecasting and mitigation planning for major construction phases and high-risk work scopes.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Serve as the primary site contact for regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Oversee OSHA recordkeeping (including OSHA 300 logs), reporting requirements, and documentation management.
  • Manage environmental compliance programs, including spill prevention, waste management, stormwater controls, and applicable permit requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and performance oversight of the site EHS team.
  • Ensure subcontractor safety programs meet project and corporate requirementsbeforeo and during execution.
  • Drive leading and lagging indicator performance, including inspection quality, observation programs, corrective action closure, and incident rates.
  • Conduct trend analysis and proactively address risk patterns.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and significant safety events; determine root causes and enforce corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely and effective closure of corrective actions and verification of control effectiveness.
  • Oversee high-risk work authorization processes, including confined space entry, LOTO, hot work, excavations, lifting operations, and energized work.
  • Lead site-wide safety meetings and engagement initiatives to promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Oversee onboarding and ongoing EHS training for Aquatech personnel and subcontractors.
  • Coach project leadership and supervision on safety leadership behaviors and accountability.
