SLS Federal Services Division is seeking a qualified Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support NAVFAC Design-Build construction projects in Hawaii. The SSHO shall be responsible for the implementation, enforcement, and continuous improvement of the project Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Program in full compliance with EM 385-1-1 (15 March 2024), UFGS 01 35 26 – Governmental Safety Requirements, FAR 52.236-13, and all applicable federal, DoD, and NAVFAC requirements. The SSHO shall serve as the on-site safety authority with full responsibility and authority to stop work when unsafe conditions or non-compliant activities are observed. The SSHO will interface directly with NAVFAC representatives, including the ROICC and Government Safety personnel, and will report functionally to the Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) while coordinating daily with the Project Manager. This position requires a highly disciplined, detail-oriented safety professional capable of operating independently, interfacing directly with Government representatives, and enforcing safety requirements in a complex Design-Build construction environment. The SSHO plays a critical role in protecting personnel, ensuring contract compliance, and supporting successful project execution for NAVFAC.
