About The Position

Triton Marine Construction Corp., a state and federal contractor, is seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support federal and marine construction projects. The SSHO is responsible for implementing and managing site safety programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and fostering a strong safety culture across all levels of the workforce. The position requires extensive knowledge of NAVFAC and USACE safety requirements, the ability to conduct daily safety inspections, and the capacity to work collaboratively with craft workers, project management, and federal contracting officials.

Requirements

  • 5+ combined years of experience in construction safety
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Health course or equivalent
  • Strong computer literacy, ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and other required software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Familiar with USACE EM 385-1-1 and NAVFAC QC procedures.
  • Valid REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative
  • Must be able to obtain federal base access (background check required).

Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce safety and health programs in accordance with contract requirements, OSHA, NAVFAC, and EM 385-1-1 standards.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Lead site safety meetings and ensure hazard communication across project teams.
  • Develop the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and any other site-specific plans.
  • Oversee development and implementation of environmental management plans, waste management plans, resource recovery, and Chemical Hazardous Material Inventory (CHMI).
  • Develop internal Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and provide coaching and guidance to subcontractors during their AHA preparation.
  • Perform mishap investigations and prepare required incident reports.
  • Provide hazard recognition training and guidance to supervisors and crews.
  • Ensure all safety reference materials are maintained and accessible on the job site.
  • Collaborate with project management and subcontractors to create and maintain a proactive safety culture.
  • Monitor site activities for compliance with contract safety requirements and provide corrective action guidance.
