About The Position

Build a brilliant future with Hiscox Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Role Overview: The SRE will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of Hiscox US technology platforms. This role combines software engineering, systems administration, and operational excellence to deliver resilient services across cloud and on-prem environments. You will lead a small team of SREs and collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and service management teams to implement best practices in automation, observability, and incident response.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in SRE, DevOps, or Systems Engineering roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong experience with Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Expertise in CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, ARM templates).
  • Deep understanding of networking, DNS, and security principles.
  • Familiarity with observability stacks (New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong Linux administration skills
  • Strong communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices and service management frameworks.
  • Certifications: Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Kubernetes CKA, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement strategies to maintain high availability and performance of critical systems.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automated recovery processes.
  • Act as escalation point for major incidents, participate in root cause analysis, and drive postmortem improvements. Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Implement advanced monitoring, alerting, and telemetry solutions to proactively detect and resolve issues.
  • Forecast and manage infrastructure capacity to support growth and performance targets.
  • Work closely with Cloud Engineering, Application Support, and Service Operations teams to reach reliability goals with business objectives.
