About the position

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will lead the transition from a mainframe to a cloud-based environment, focusing on AWS GovCloud architecture, security, and performance management. This role is pivotal in guiding architectural decisions, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), supporting CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring cost-effective cloud operations that comply with federal standards, driving the organization towards a Cloud Native future.

Responsibilities

  • Drive architectural decisions and develop guidance and best practices for technical capabilities.
  • Manage customer expectations and influence key technical decisions while providing best practices.
  • Engineer, deliver, and support all aspects of AWS GovCloud in alignment with NIST 800-53 and FedRamp standards.
  • Debug cloud-based distributed systems (AWS).
  • Architect, engineer, deliver, and support solutions as IaC using Terraform and configuration management tools like Ansible.
  • Lead performance management, logging, monitoring, and reporting in the AWS environment to ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines across multiple organizations.
  • Influence the innovative DevOps mindset to guide the organization towards a Cloud Native environment.
  • Ensure cost savings through strong architectural guidance and best practices.
  • Become a cross-functional expert with industry experts in other capabilities.
  • Configure core cloud technologies such as OpenShift, Kafka, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL to meet cloud capabilities.
  • Recommend, design, and configure VPCs, Account Management, and security protocols within the Cloud.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 10-15 years of experience in infrastructure support, delivery, engineering, and architecture.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture, design, configuration, and support (AWS preferred).
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, AWS Certified Developer-Associate (CDA).
  • Demonstrated experience with FedRamp and Federal Student Aid.
  • Strong focus on continuous integration and continuous delivery, with experience in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Advanced experience in DevOps and DevSecOps environments, familiarity with SAFe Agile and Atlassian JIRA.
  • Advanced experience in AWS, including Billing, Core Technologies, Redshift, ELB/ALB, Performance Management, CloudWatch, and VPCs.
  • Advanced experience with Azure Core & Tenancy and Billing.
  • Advanced experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL.
  • Advanced experience with application container technology (OpenShift/Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Experience with IT automation tools (Ansible).
  • Advanced experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including Terraform and scripting languages (Python, Bash, Perl).
  • Advanced experience with MuleSoft, JBoss, Kafka, and API Gateways.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DevOps CI-CD Pipeline Tools (Jenkins, GitLab, AppCenter, Nexus, Team City, Selenium).
  • Experience with monitoring/logging tools (New Relic, ELK, Splunk).
  • Agile Project Management experience.
