About The Position

As a Junior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be the primary driver in transitioning our infrastructure from a "vulnerable" state to a "reliable" one. We require a dedicated professional to lead an initial stabilization phase—clearing technical debt—before establishing a sustainable, monthly patching cycle. Mission: From Legacy to Reliable Your first 6–12 months will focus on remediation and baseline setting. You will identify "stale" infrastructure, execute critical patches, and document the environment so we can move away from ad-hoc fixes and toward a predictable, automated cadence.

Requirements

  • OS Fundamentals: Strong grasp of Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS) or Windows Server administration and package management (yum, apt, etc.)
  • Scripting: Basic proficiency in Python or Bash to automate repetitive tasks
  • Curiosity for Security: A foundational understanding of what a CVE is and why it matters
  • Tooling Exposure: Familiarity with (or a strong desire to learn) Ansible, Terraform, or Docker
  • Troubleshooting: The ability to look at a failed update log and systematically find the root cause

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
  • 0-2years of experience in mobile network operations or systems engineering roles

Responsibilities

  • Initial Baseline Patching: Audit our current environment (VMs, servers) to identify and apply overdue security updates.
  • Developer Advocacy & Partnership: Work side-by-side with Dev teams to understand application dependencies. You will negotiate "safe-to-patch" windows and assist Devs in testing.
  • Establish a Patching Cadence: Design and document a Monthly Patching Cycle. You will be responsible for communicating this schedule to the broader Engineering org.
  • Automation of Toil: Gradually replace manual update tasks with scripts and configuration management tools.
  • Documentation: Document legacy systems to ensure that future patching is repeatable and safe
