About The Position

Walmart/VIZIO is seeking a database focused Site Reliability Engineer III to design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable database infrastructure and software solutions. About the team: The Database Reliability Engineering team manages enterprise database systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability. This team focuses on designing and implementing robust database solutions, maintaining infrastructure and pipelines through automation, and supporting continuous integration processes. Members collaborate to monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and optimize reliability using advanced tools and methodologies. The team values precision, proactive problem-solving, and adherence to security and compliance standards, contributing to the resilience and efficiency of critical database systems across the organization.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of proficiency in GCP, Azure, or AWS and modern pipelining technologies and approaches.
  • 2+ years of hands-on expertise with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server and Redis for performance tuning and optimization.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with IaC tools, such as Terraform, Open Tofu, or Liquibase.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills to resolve performance and availability issues effectively.
  • Exceptional communications and time management skills are a must, as the role involves effectively conveying insights to ensure clear understanding and alignment with team members and stake holders.

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and2 years' experience in site reliability engineering, site and system administration, infrastructure management, or related area.
  • Option 2: 4 years' experience in site reliability engineering, site and system administration, infrastructure management, or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable, modular, and secure database solutions aligned with business requirements and disaster recovery standards.
  • Convert high-level designs into detailed functional modules, ensuring adherence to coding standards and security compliance.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) to support continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Monitor system performance using telemetry and alerting tools, analyzing metrics to optimize availability and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks, conducting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Research and apply reliability models and emerging technologies to enhance database stability and scalability.
