About The Position

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role at TikTok's U.S. Data Security division focuses on managing and ensuring the reliability of large-scale data platforms. This position combines software and systems engineering to build and run distributed services and infrastructures, ensuring they are fault-tolerant, scalable, and cost-effective. The role involves engaging in the entire service lifecycle, from design to deployment, and requires collaboration with various internal and external teams to enhance service efficiency and stability.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related areas
• Experience in one or more programming languages such as Go, Java, C++, Python etc.
• Good problem-solving, analytical thinking capabilities and exceptional attention to details
• Good communication and collaboration skills.

• Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
• Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks
• Proficiency working with algorithms, data structures and production troubleshooting

Responsibilities

• Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of service, from inception and design, through to deployment, operation and refinement
• Ensure reliable, fault-tolerant, efficiently scalable and cost-effective data, services and infrastructures
• Maintain services by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems
• Establish the best engineering practice for engineers as well as non-technical people
• Design and implement reliable, scalable, robust and extensible big data systems that support core products and business
• Work with internal teams to develop and deploy software/config changes to services
• Provide operational support for the suite of production systems and services
• Collaborate with external stakeholders/partners in improving efficiency and stability of the services.
