Position Summary: Advanced Thin Films (ATF) develops and manufactures high-performance optical components for laser markets that are setting the standard for optical coatings for cutting-edge laser systems. In this role, the Site Quality Lead will be responsible for driving a strong culture of quality throughout the company. They will take an engineering data driven approach to RCCM and driving sustained quality improvements with our key customers and products in the factory. They will champion quality’s role in the facility through training and process implementation. Additionally, this position will be responsible for improving and maintaining ATF’s QMS system in adherence to ISO9001.

Requirements

  • Strong statistical toolbox. Proficient in statistical analysis software such as JMP or Minitab
  • Ability to use engineering fundamentals to root cause issues and create sustainable countermeasures
  • Systems thinker with a lean and strategic mindset

  • Develop, organize, prioritize, and manage projects and time
  • Identify, research and resolve issues
  • Work well with time and production limitations
  • Acquire substantial knowledge of ATF's manufacturing processes, procedures and products
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience with optical test equipment
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of a variety of database or process software
  • Hands on approach to learning and teaching others
  • B.S. or higher in Engineering or related field or the equivalence in work experience.
  • 3-5 years experience in the field of process/quality/optical engineering.
  • Familiar with using statistical process control or similar methods.
  • The person must have or be willing to gain working knowledge of quality management systems, ISO 9001 requirements, Lean Principles, Six Sigma and proficient knowledge of statistics
  • Deep understanding and application of problem-solving tools for root cause and corrective action
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance of ATF’s ISO registration: surveillance and certification audits, internal audit program, quality management reviews, and execution of corrective/preventative actions from audit findings
  • Drives cross functional leadership to ensure quality priorities and objectives are met.
  • Mentor, and champion activities to continue quality culture within organization
  • Develop and maintain ATF’s quality roadmap in alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Lead quality planning for development projects or changed processes to ensure risks and opportunities are addressed prior to moving to scaled production
  • Initiate, facilitate, and lead cross functional teams for structured problem solving and corrective/preventative actions utilizing various quality tools including Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Monitor in-process and final testing and inspection activities.
  • Track and adjust quality control checks of critical processes in production using charts, statistical data, and reports to ensure customers’ requirements are fulfilled
  • Solves problem at the point of impact
  • Implements updated and improved manufacturing technology into process to improve key metrics
  • Effectively creates and manages timelines for projects
  • Manages multiple projects at once while also balancing daily critical issues
  • Establishes, follows, and enforces all safety regulations
  • Utilizes data analysis techniques to prioritize solutions
  • Support and continuous improvement of RMA program at ATF
  • Support Nonconformance Reporting program including investigations, disposition, and action plan development by partnering with production and engineering teams
  • Effectively communicates change at all levels in organization
  • Creates standard work documents and modifies them as needed to drive process repeatability
  • Train employees in QMS and Quality best practices
  • Develop and audit on best practices to ensure employee performance and development
  • Ownership of COPQ (cost of poor quality) metric. Drives RCCMs with teams to ensure scrap is controlled within facility
