About The Position

We are looking for a talented Site Quality Engineer - Senior - to join our team specializing in Quality Engineering for our location in Columbus, IN. Requirements

  • Demonstrated role competence is required.
  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject or experience equivalent is required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Intermediate level of experience required.
  • Preferably 3-5 years’ experience in Manufacturing, Engineering or Program Management in the automotive industry or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related manufacturing or quality experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership of Hourly Teams: Provide clear direction, coaching, and daily oversight to DWU hourly employees, ensuring consistent execution of quality expectations and standard work on the plant floor.
  • Technical Quality Expertise: Apply strong SPC knowledge, quality core tools (Control Plans, PFMEAs, PPAP), and data driven analysis to monitor processes, maintain capability, and ensure product conformity.
  • Structured Problem Solving: Lead effective root cause analysis and corrective actions using methods like 5Why, Fishbone, and DMAIC to reduce defects, scrap, and variation while strengthening long-term process stability.
  • Operational Quality Leadership: Use data systems, analytics, and a strong floor presence to identify risks early, drive preventive actions, and continuously improve plant quality performance in partnership with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supplier teams.
  • Lead daily quality assurance activities for plant operations, ensuring process capability, product conformity, and adherence to customer and internal requirements.
  • Apply strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) , including control chart interpretation, capability analysis, and process monitoring to drive data-based decisions.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve Control Plans, PFMEAs, and other Quality Core Tools in partnership with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supplier teams.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods (5-Why, Fishbone, DMAIC) to reduce defects, scrap, and variation..
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians and operators, promoting a culture of quality, robust documentation, and standard work.
  • Utilize data systems and analytics tools to identify trends, escalate risks, and implement preventive actions.
  • Continuously improve plant quality performance through proactive process reviews, capability improvements, and strong floor presence.
