About the position

The Site Operational Systems Engineer at Bayer is responsible for advancing digital farming technologies and ensuring that manufacturing execution systems (MES) and other software applications are designed and maintained to meet business needs. This role involves translating business processes into technology specifications, supporting digital transformation efforts, and representing the Kansas City site in global SAP CORE projects. The engineer will also support various corporate initiatives and manage site-level technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that MES, CORE and other software and applications are designed and maintained according to business needs.
  • Act as the primary resource for global SAP CORE projects, representing the Kansas City Site to provide consistency of vision in development.
  • Translate business processes into concrete specifications and designs for technology systems to automate business processes.
  • Determine technologies that should be managed at the site level versus those managed by global enabling teams.
  • Specify, develop, and support the site Manufacturing Execution System (MES), site data historian, and other custom applications.
  • Represent business needs to partners and IT for ongoing process, governance, and strategic design requirements.
  • Drive the site's digital transformation efforts.
  • Support the Kansas City site on various corporate initiatives such as InTraSt, NeMo, PI Migration, and Crop Science Warehouse.
  • Own the OneMES Siemens OpCenter architecture and system design.
  • Represent the Kansas City site on various MES, Data Historian, CORE, and corporate and regional communities.
  • Support the site's technology infrastructure for process control, operational technology, and business applications.
  • Support data historian systems including support, integration, PI, and Delta V Historian.

Requirements

  • Experience in Engineering or Computer Systems.
  • Proficiency in technology such as OT (process control, data historian, OPC) and IT (databases, code languages, web frameworks, networks).
  • Experience working with SAP.

Nice-to-haves

  • BS in Engineering or Computer Systems with 10+ years, MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 6+ years in Engineering or Computer Systems.
  • Experience in leading people.
  • Project Management, stakeholder collaboration, and influencing capability.
  • Excellent communication skills.
