About The Position

The Site Material Manager role requires a skilled and motivated individual to oversee and manage the storage, tracking and distribution of materials required for work execution on-site at various laydown yard locations with multiple subcontractors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cost-management of materials, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and supporting line crews with materials daily. In this role, you will work closely with procurement to ensure timely availability of materials and make sure critical path material is the priority. Collaborate daily with subcontractors and crews to optimize efficiencies at the site locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain or related field from an accredited program.
  • At least 5 years of experience in supply chain/supplier diversity is strongly preferred. Equivalent related work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Requires strong computer (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), analytical, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer procurement and warehousing experience in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the inventory of materials, ensuring adequate stock levels, accurate records are kept, and timely replenishment of supplies.
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractor line crews, laydown yard support personnel and be available for client visits.
  • Develop a daily schedule with multiple subcontractors to maintain the flow of traffic in and out of the laydown yards, while maintaining safety of personnel.
  • Collaborate with procurement and project teams to forecast material needs and ensure materials are available when the crews need them in accordance with work plans.
  • Ensure that materials delivered are free from defects and damage.
  • Responsible for staff offloading major, minor and truck stock material and safely storing with proper part identification, bin, or physical locations.
  • Oversee the planning of material transportation and storage, ensuring safe and efficient movement of materials within the facility and allocations of material to line crews on site.
  • Track and manage material, identifying opportunities for efficiencies and process improvements.
  • Ensure that all materials are stored and handled according to safety regulations, maintaining any manufacturer guidelines.
  • Supervise and train materials management staff as needed on-site, providing guidance, performance feedback, and support.
  • Attend any meetings in person or via remote as needed by the project team/procurement team.
  • Assess potential risks, and implement measures to mitigate risks associated with subcontractors, and their line crews.
