About The Position

The Skirball Cultural Center seeks an experienced leader to serve as Site Manager. Reporting to the Director of Security and Safety, this position assists in planning, developing, administering and managing day-to-day operations and training of the Security Department and implementing the Security Management Plan. The Site Manager also oversees investigations relative to security issues and ensures the security of Skirball’s assets, facilities, grounds, visitors, and team members.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a senior security role or as a public safety or military officer with supervisory responsibility
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid California driver’s license
  • Ability to respond effectively to crisis situations and to work in high-pressure situations; ability to analyze and independently solve a variety of difficult situations and problems
  • Ability to work overtime, evenings, and nights
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong customer service skills; the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of employees and visitors
  • Personal traits of self-motivation, team orientation, professionalism, trustworthiness, and places a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of both long- and short-range goals for the department consistent with the Skirball’s mission
  • Maintain implementation of security management plans and department policies and procedures
  • Supervise security officers, console and control room operators, and other department supervisors
  • Implement and ensure employee compliance with the Skirball’s and the Security Department’s policies and procedures
  • Oversee and participate in department employee relations meetings and team building activities, including employee selection, management, development, performance review, and employee relations matters.
  • Help to determine and maintain adequate numbers of employees to provide safe, effective, and efficient service in accordance with established standards
  • Coordinate security services with other departments
  • Carry out safety and security procedures to ensure employee and visitor safety
  • Oversee the delivery of daily reports to department management
  • Prepare employees for shifts; review daily logs and procedural memoranda and ensure effective shift transition; conduct roll call, verify deployment assignments, and issue instructions
  • Troubleshoot problems at exhibits or events to ensure visitors have favorable experiences, including issues with audio visual, electrical, administrative, and information systems
  • Assist with large event delivery coordination, road closures, and parcel tracking
  • Coordinate Community Emergency Response Team classes with the Los Angeles Fire Department; conduct interdepartmental emergency training; maintain first aid supplies
  • Maintain radio equipment, including tracking repair costs, researching equipment, and maintaining radios for all departments
