Role Overview We are seeking a Site Logistics Manager to lead all aspects of on-site material planning and logistics at our new manufacturing facility in McDonough, Georgia. This role will oversee the storage, movement, and flow of feedstock materials into the plant, as well as the shipment of finished products to customers—primarily by rail. The Site Logistics Manager will be accountable for developing the site’s material flow strategy, designing feedstock stocking and organization methods, and creating standard operating procedures (SOPs). As the facility commissions and later expands, this role will also build and lead a team of forklift operators and a rail loading operator to ensure safe, efficient, and timely logistics execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience in logistics, warehousing, or material management within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience with rail operations and railcar shipping is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to design and implement logistics strategies, SOPs, and material flow processes.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising or building operational teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and inventory management tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in being part of the start of a manufacturing site.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance in logistics and rail operations.
  • Hands-on experience in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the material flow strategy for the site, including optimal feedstock storage, handling, and organization.
  • Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for feedstock management, storage, and product shipments.
  • Manage all logistics operations including receiving, storing, handling, and dispatching feedstock and shipping finished products to customers.
  • Coordinate planning and loading of trucks and railcars
  • Oversee rail logistics operations, ensuring safe and efficient loading, unloading, and shipment of products.
  • Coordinate logistics activities with procurement, operations, production planning, and commercial teams to ensure material availability and timely customer deliveries.
  • Monitor inventory levels of feedstock and finished products; maintain accurate records and implement best practices for inventory control.
  • Coordinate and align supply chain objectives across operations, R&D, commercial, and feedstock sourcing departments.
  • Resolves bottlenecks or problem areas in the supply chain.
  • Work closely with operations and feedstock sourcing teams to influence decisions to meet technical capabilities and business objectives.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness in material handling and logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with rail, transportation, and safety regulations.
  • Lead, train, and develop a growing team of forklift operators and rail loading operator(s).
  • Collaborate with operations to align logistics strategy with production requirements and customer demand.
  • Support site startup and continuous improvement initiatives by designing logistics processes, KPIs, and reporting tools
  • At the appropriate time of the organization, design, hire and manage the operations team.
  • Manage production planning and collaborate with operations and logistics to ensure that on-time delivery, cycle time and goals are met.
  • Develop strong relationships with operations partners and become trusted point of contact to have detailed discussions concerning changes and discrepancies in forecasted volumes across all customers and factories.
  • Oversee the daily workflow and assignments.
