About The Position

AECOM’s Disaster Recovery Division is seeking a knowledgeable Part-Time Variable Site Inspector to join our Houston team. In this role, you will support critical disaster recovery programs by performing post-storm site inspections, developing scopes of work and cost estimates, and collaborating with program leadership, contractors, and applicants to help communities recover efficiently and in compliance with program requirements. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: The Site Inspector will assist with the implementation of Disaster Recovery Programs, including the oversight of managers and distribution of resources within a specific functional area. The Site Inspector should maintain a complete understanding of all applicable Program policies and requirements.

Requirements

  • BA/BS and 4+ years of relevant or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and functional experience with estimation services (Xactimate)
  • Experience with estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles.
  • Advanced time management skills which utilize high-level strategies that aid staff in managing time, productivity, and effectiveness
  • Xactimate Level 2 Certification
  • 5+ years of disaster recovery construction experience preferred
  • Experience with CDBG housing and/or FEMA hazard mitigation programs or similar programs/projects is preferred
  • Advanced level Microsoft Office skills; ability to import, create formulas, pivot tables, export data and run reports in Microsoft Excel; ability to quickly learn new software applications

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior leadership and the applicant to identify projects that comply with the established categories of work for the program.
  • Understand all aspects of pre-construction processes including, but not limited to: inspections, estimated costs to repair (ECR), surveying, development of program compliant plans and specifications and any other construction documents required by the Program.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of all applicable Program policies and requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of specific parts of the construction project, which may include oversight and distribution of resources within the specific functional area.
  • Inspect and determine extent of damage to residential and/or commercial properties.
  • Develop scopes of work and cost information/estimates for repair or replacement of disaster related residential or commercial property damage.
  • Interact with General Contractors during disaster recovery residential repairs/construction.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of local building codes and regulations.
  • Prepares cost estimation packages and analysis of General Contractor estimates for housing projects.
  • Perform duties with some complexity under general supervision.
  • Expected to assist in the QA/QC of cost estimates assigned to other inspectors.
  • Perform site inspections for post-storm residential damage.
  • Create Estimated Cost of Repairs (ECR) and detailed cost estimating documentation.
  • Conduct 50% and final progress inspections.
  • Understand and apply local building codes, GLO design standards, and construction specifications.
  • Complete required forms and obtain signatures in a timely manner.
