About The Position

The Site HSE Advisor supports the management and development of Health, Safety and Environment for the site. This includes operational controls, regulatory requirements and goals to attain best in class. They will lead and embrace GKN business, environment and cultural values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Health, Safety and Environment or related field, plus 3+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, required.
  • 3+ years of experience with national and local HSE requirements, as well as experience with ISO certifications (14001 and 45001), required.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder due to program security clearance requirements and/or SSA requirements.
  • Experience with implementing essential HSE programs including Hazard Communication, Hot Work, Contractor Safety, Electrical Safety, Lockout Tagout, Mobile Equipment, Crane Safety, Hazardous Waste, Emergency Response, Hearing Conservation, and Respiratory Protection.
  • Experience with air permitting and monitoring, NESHAP, APCD, wastewater, stormwater, and CERS.

  • Must be able to communicate a message, idea, or information clearly to an audience through practiced presentation skills with an ability to lead and influence.
  • Must have a strong focus on teamwork, being able to develop and manage positive relationships with colleagues as well as internal and external customers.
  • Experience with California HSE programs including CalARP.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification.
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Problem solving and investigation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the HSE Lead.
  • Implement GKN Aerospace HSE policies and procedures throughout the site.
  • Complete and maintain required HSE documentation including risk assessments.
  • Report and manage all incidents on HSE data collection system.
  • Provide reports as required on site HSE performance.
  • Ensure accurate and complete tracking of internal HSE metrics, plans, recordkeeping and corrective actions.
  • Ensure employees are trained and competent in relation to HSE programs.
  • Ensure statutory compliance of the site.
  • Set targets for site HSE performance.
  • Support Health and Safety and Environmental site certifications as required.
  • Support the HSE Audit function.
  • Support site sustainability initiatives related to waste minimization, energy and water conservation.
