About The Position

The Site H&S Leader is responsible for leading and integrating Health and Safety programs into daily plant operations to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant manufacturing. This role goes beyond compliance and focuses on driving safety culture, proactive risk management, and system-level improvements across the site. The H&S Leader will serve as a key member of the site leadership team, partnering closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and the regional safety team to embed safety into all aspects of plant execution. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, field-oriented leader who can influence behavior, identify risks proactively, and drive sustainable improvements in both process and personal safety performance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or chemical plant environment
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, PSM requirements, and industrial safety practices
  • Demonstrated experience leading safety programs, incident investigations, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels
  • Must meet all site fitness-for-duty requirements to safely perform essential job functions in an industrial manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong field presence (50–60%), actively engaging with operators and frontline teams to influence safe behaviors
  • Drive a behavior-based safety culture, including observations, near-miss reporting, and stop-work authority
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering to integrate safety into daily execution, planning, and decision-making
  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety program improvements, including Safe Work Permits, JSAs, LOTO, confined space, and other high-risk activities
  • Own and continuously improve site safety programs, including auditing effectiveness of current systems and permit processes, and ensuring standardization and field execution
  • Support and drive key PSM elements including MOC, PHA participation, emergency response, and mechanical integrity coordination
  • Lead incident investigations and RCAs, ensuring focus on system-level corrective actions and sharing learnings across the site and region
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal H&S regulations, including maintaining documentation, reporting, and regulatory submissions
  • Coordinate and lead internal and external audits, ensuring timely and effective closure of findings
  • Own and improve safety training and onboarding systems, ensuring competency and field readiness—not just completion
  • Lead contractor safety programs, including onboarding, compliance, and field oversight
  • Maintain and improve PPE programs, safety standards, and critical hazard assessments
  • Lead emergency response preparedness, drills, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and track leading and lagging safety indicators, using data to drive improvements
  • Lead Safety Committee and drive engagement and follow-through
  • Maintain and execute the site EHS plan and reporting requirements
  • Drive improvements in housekeeping, 5S, and visual workplace standards
