We are excited for you to come join our Site Facilities Engineering Team! We are seeking a Site Facilities Engineering Manager for our Wayne and Totowa New Jersey campuses. The Wayne NJ site is just over 20 acres located at 150 Parish Drive with a single story building approximately 235k square feet while the Totowa site is 10 acres located at 100 Campus Road and has a two-story building approximately 130k square feet. Both sites are part of BAE’s Electronic Solutions sector housing various engineering and operations functions supporting a variety of the sector’s product lines. The core functions of the Site Facilities Engineering Manager role will be to support the business through site operations focusing on safety, overall site performance, enabling the business to achieve their goals of delivering exceptional products. This will be accomplished through site infrastructure projects, continuous improvement activity, proactive and predictive maintenance activity for all building infrastructure. This position is a key member of the Facilities Leadership Team and reports to the Regional Facilities Director. The Site Facilities Engineering team is made up of a management support staff including a site supervisor, a facilities engineer and a functional support specialist as well as a team of 14 skilled trades staff of various disciplines and experience levels. The role is expected to maintain compliance and drive productivity and cost savings. The Site Facilities Engineering Manager will also oversee development and staffing needs for the department, keeping the team ready to respond to the needs of the business and facility. As a Site Facilities Engineering Manager you will be part of and supported by a large facilities organization (over 330 facility employees serving over 7 million square feet of space at 53 sites and 123 buildings across the US) with access to central project management, technical review board, strategic planning and services teams. Other functional partners and organizations include and are not limited to Safety, Health, and Environmental, Security and IT, and Purchasing helping to deliver services supporting the core business needs. The successful candidate will have experience in and demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties outlined below. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers. Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents. Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Analyze, evaluate, develop, implement processes and systems within budget adhering to time requirements and schedule. Design and develop improvements using state-of-the-art technology, principles, theories and concepts.

Requirements

  • BS degree with engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, civil, etc..) or a BS degree in a business discipline with knowledge of building systems and operations.
  • 10 years leadership experience preferably in Facilities Management with a focus on building and site operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or advanced degree in engineering, management, finance, or organizational leadership with experience in managing multiple building sites with a variety of complex infrastructure support.

Responsibilities

  • Receive limited direction and manage with significant discretion and with independent judgment in taking action and making decisions related to managing assigned department.
  • Provide department interface and extensive contact with the Site Executive(s), Site Leadership, Department Managers, Lab Managers, and other key building occupants. Provide leadership and support as required for the Business Continuity Program and act as Incident Commander for scenarios highlighted in the Emergency Response/Incident Management Plan.
  • Develop relations and collaborate with other functional support organizations such as Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE), Security, IT, and Finance. Work closely and collaborate within the facility functions such as planning, real estate, engineering, sustainability, facility services and other peer site managers.
  • Manage, select, supervise, counsel, train and evaluate a team of exempt and non-exempt personnel in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure facility, infrastructure, grounds and parking areas are maintained in a safe accessible state of repair to ensure a sustained operation 24/7/365.
  • Manage building services such as housekeeping, trash removal, snow removal, recycling, grounds care, repairs and maintenance using a combination of vendor and in-house resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
  • Develop multi-year capital plan and annual expense budgets. Upon final budget approvals, manage to those budgets.
  • Manage local Sustainability Initiative plans, goals and objectives, to ensure strategy alignment with company focus.
  • Collaborate with Capital Project Managers for business related plant rearrangements, equipment installations and facility infrastructure upgrades/repairs assuring completed projects meet standards for operations and maintenance.
