About The Position

The Site EHS Manager leads Environmental, Health & Safety strategy for the Chelmsford, MA facility, ensuring legal compliance, driving continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental performance, and embedding a strong safety culture across operations.

Requirements

  • BS degree, preferably in safety, industrial hygiene, or an environmental-related discipline and 3-5 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Superior problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize, organize and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to function under pressure and to prioritize numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional business hours as needed; this facility currently operates 24/5 with occasional weekend staffing due to customer demand. EHS presence in the facility during non-traditional business hours will be required on occasion for training, meetings and incident investigations.
  • This position requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working in a typical manufacturing environment with seasonal heat/cold and sound related to machine operation as well as maintenance and facility repair activities.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the task at hand.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and direct the site’s Safety Committee, holding meetings to increase employee awareness.
  • Develop, facilitate and deliver safety training for employees based on facility needs and corporate requirements to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
  • Oversee the investigation of work-related illnesses and injuries; investigating all accidents and near misses, determining the “root cause” and ensuring that corrective actions are implemented.
  • Manage emergency response plans and coordinate drills.
  • Develop, evaluate and maintain effective health/safety policy and procedures to comply with corporate and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to Safe Operating Procedures, Lockout/Tagout, Hearing Conservation and Powered Industrial Trucks.
  • Prepare OSHA and other governmental reports as required.
  • Prepare and distribute reports on safety metrics such as leading indicators and incident rates to stakeholders.
  • Conduct periodic plant audits, identifying hazards and working with plant management and maintenance teams to ensure timely resolution of identified opportunities for improvement.
  • Receive and compile plant SDS’s.
  • Other duties as assigned or as required.
