The Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager at Amazon is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthful working environment in the warehouse. This role involves coordinating and implementing the Amazon Global Program, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with local, regional, and federal regulations. The WHS Manager will also develop and lead a team of WHS professionals, providing guidance and oversight to execute company WHS policies effectively.

  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS Policies.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional/domestic regulations and company policy.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in processes to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Establish high-quality relationships with both site and regional leadership.
  • Measure site's performance against published requirements in EHS policies and identify plans to fix deficiencies.
  • Analyze WHS metrics and review incident trends to allocate resources effectively.
  • Perform frequent site WHS audits to identify non-compliance equipment and processes.
  • Audit recordkeeping practices and WHS Information System entries for compliance.
  • Audit workplace organization and Associate behaviors for training and auditing accuracy.
  • Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained on their responsibilities under each policy.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of increasing responsibilities in EHS and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
  • 5+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
  • Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS experience with a mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people
  • Master's degree
  • Certified Safety Professional
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies
