About The Position

The Site Director at Abbott Laboratories is responsible for overseeing all distribution and logistics operations at the Lake County Distribution Center. This role focuses on maximizing the efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of the supply chain while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Site Director will lead a team, develop key performance metrics, and foster a culture of continuous improvement to meet both internal and external client needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Logistics, Operations Management, or Supply Chain.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing teams across multiple functions or departments.
  • Direct experience in warehouse operations and transportation management, including WMS/ERP.
  • Experience in Medical Device/Diagnostics manufacturing or similarly regulated industry.
  • Experience with global supply chain teams and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to set goals and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all distribution and logistics policies, procedures, and activities to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead distribution activities involving receipt, delivery, and inventory control to satisfy client needs.
  • Provide leadership to department managers by setting goals aligned with annual operating plans and coaching them in execution.
  • Develop and analyze key metrics for the distribution center to ensure performance, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction goals are met.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strategize with foreign locations to ensure effective global distribution of products.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance related to the international supply chain, including import/export and tariffs.
  • Coordinate materials supply, storage, distribution, and order delivery to optimize resources.
  • Monitor performance levels and manage staffing and expense levels to meet budgetary plans.
  • Partner with stakeholders to drive process improvements and meet business objectives.
  • Oversee site compliance with quality systems and manage transportation service providers.
