About The Position

You will manage ongoing programming at the Clark St. School after school program in a professional and confidential manner and in a way which incorporates the developmental and culturally sensitive philosophy of the program to ensure the highest quality of care for children, and compliance with Department of Early Education/QRIS requirements and health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • 20 years of age or older
  • Good communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to cooperate with coworkers
  • Must meet one of the following education criteria: Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology, or Child Care AND have 6 months of experience working with school-aged children, OR; Bachelor’s Degree in any field or an associate degree in any of the fields listed above WITH 9 months of experience working with school-aged children
  • Experience working with families and children of diverse backgrounds
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the classroom.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
  • Run or move quickly to respond to emergency situations
  • Requires good physical stamina and agility

Responsibilities

  • Schedule staff, including substitute coverage, to meet DEEC, QRIS standards.
  • Supervise staff in a supportive manner using Arnette Interactive Scale; encourage positive and effective communication among staff.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for children; performing light housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Public School Site Administrators.
  • Attend scheduled center meetings; maintain First Aid and CPR certification; complete 20 hours of training each year as required by DEEC.
  • Develop good relationships with parents using Strengthening Families Guidelines through open and consistent communication, planned activities and scheduled parent conferences.
  • Work with supervisor in working with families in need of intervention.
  • Notify immediate supervisor and parents of any contagious illness contracted by a child enrolled in the program.
  • Implement and maintain a developmental, age-appropriate, and anti-biased curriculum which incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) in small and large group activities and meets the highest standards for quality programming.
  • Complete bi-annual progress reports using the School Age Youth Observation Tool (SAYO) for each child and maintain records for children, staff, and program per licensing requirement.
  • Assist in enrollment.
  • Assist in maintaining all records required for licensing and in preparing for licensing.
  • Assist the Program Coordinator with grant implementation and documentation.
  • Maintain EEC Professional Qualifications (PQ) Registry
  • Perform other duties as required.
