Site Coordinator - Afterschool Program
About The Position
The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is currently seeking a Childcare Afterschool Program Site Coordinator. This is a part-time on-site role. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the ever-evolving needs of our community since 1912. We are located just 5 miles west of New York City in the beautiful Waterfront City of Perth Amboy, NJ. The YMCA is dedicated to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities through programs that develop the values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith. We devotedly serve over 5,000 community participants and families in our community building initiatives. The Childcare Afterschool Program Site Coordinator is responsible for the quality; delivery; and proper organization of YMCA activities provided to program participants and the community. The Childcare Afterschool Program Site Coordinator works independently under general direction, and supervises, trains, and supports part-time Program Counselors while ensuring compliance with New Jersey child care licensing, health, and safety requirements. The Childcare Afterschool Program Site Coordinator also engages in and promotes the YMCA mission through the core values of Honesty, Caring, Responsibility, Respect and Faith.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred
- 2–4 years of child care or youth program experience preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills; bilingual in Spanish – a plus.
- CPR/First Aid, TB test, health clearance, and required trainings (per NJ licensing) – or within 30 days of employment
Responsibilities
- Assure the afterschool program provides a safe environment by verifying that all safety and state licensing procedures are being met
- Communicate professionally with families and staff
- Supervise program counselors and volunteers
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of participation in the program
- Coordinate use of facilities, field trips, and events; as well as the clean up
- Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information
- Establish new program activities and expand program with the community
