About The Position

The Kleingers Group is seeking a Site Civil Project Manager in Indianapolis, IN. This role involves providing technical and people leadership for civil engineering projects through planning, evaluation, design, and implementation. The Project Manager will lead study-phase and/or design-phase efforts across civil, environmental, construction, and industrial projects, supporting the growth of Kleingers’ Indianapolis office. The position offers the opportunity to build and develop an engineering team while contributing to business development in the Indy market. The Project Manager collaborates closely with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard of quality. This role also includes hiring, mentoring, and developing staff while representing the Company with professionalism and integrity. The Kleingers Group provides design solutions for a wide range of public, private, institutional, and corporate clients, focusing on Site Civil Engineering, athletic field design, Transportation Engineering, land surveying, landscape architecture, and community planning services. They have offices located in Indiana, Cincinnati, Columbus, Akron, Louisville, and Tampa, enabling them to provide personal attention and service to their clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license and Indiana licensure required
  • 5-8 years of civil engineering experience
  • Advanced understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools
  • Knowledge of state and local regulations and ability to review projects for regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency with CAD, Civil 3D, and related design, data, and analysis software
  • Understanding of construction materials, methods, and tools for site and transportation infrastructure
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a creative and analytical approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
  • Comfort with public speaking
  • Ability to assign work based on team members’ strengths and skill levels
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead teams to deliver projects on time, on budget, and accurately
  • U.S. work authorization required
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis

Responsibilities

  • Lead collaboratively and cross-functionally to solve complex site civil engineering challenges
  • Deliver successful projects and build long-term client relationships that lead to repeat development opportunities
  • Roll up sleeves, develop teams, and apply both technical and leadership skills to drive results

  • Plan projects using drawings, surveys, aerial photography, maps, and geologic and topographical data
  • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design standards and specifications
  • Assign and oversee project work to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and proper time entry
  • Write proposals for advanced-level projects
  • Positively impact project financial performance and key metrics
  • Consult with and provide guidance to project stakeholders and management regarding engineering requirements and design modifications
  • Collaborate with architects, landscape architects, contractors, and engineers to ensure successful project execution
  • Coordinate with surveyors (or direct and participate in surveying) to establish reference points, grades, elevations, and construction controls
  • Prepare and present technical reports, including detention and engineering due diligence reports
  • Perform engineering calculations for materials, equipment, and labor to determine probable construction costs
  • Utilize design software and drafting tools (CAD, Civil 3D) to develop and communicate designs, including site improvements
  • Establish design criteria and specifications through engineering analysis (e.g., water flow, traffic demand, earthwork balance)
  • Teach and explain Company methodologies and best practices to team members
  • Hire, train, evaluate, assign, and lead staff to successful project completion
