About The Position

GFT is seeking a Site/Civil Engineer to support a variety of projects in the Southeast region. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at Tampa, FL office. What you'll be challenged to do: GFT is seeking a Site/Civil Designer for our site development practice within the buildings & places business group. The position to participate in project teams for the planning, design, and construction administration of public and private projects. Clients and projects may be in various locations in the Southeast region. Candidate must have the flexibility to travel within the region periodically to help serve GFT’s client base. This role supports a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Tampa, FL office This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Site/Civil Design Engineer who thrives in a collaborative team environment. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Responsibilities include production of engineering and design deliverable in accordance with GFT procedures and standards for projects across the business line. This will involve collaborating with PMs and Senior Site/Civil Engineers to deliver successful projects to a variety of GFT clients.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering (MS is a plus)
  • E.I.T required.
  • Preferred on track for PE licensure in Florida
  • 3+ years of site/land development experience required including a thorough knowledge of the requirements of local, State and Federal agencies having site plan approval jurisdiction.
  • Thorough knowledge of local development approval process including site design and grading, stormwater management and erosion & sediment control design, and utility design.
  • Extensive site stormwater management design and permitting.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding and applying agency design standards in the design of civil infrastructure.
  • Using hydrologic and hydraulic programs (ICPR, HEC-RAS, Bentley software, etc.) in the analysis of storm water.
  • Modeling water and wastewater systems (using WaterCAD and SewerCAD).
  • Preparing roadway design (using Civil 3D and/or INROADS).
  • Writing Basis of Design or other reports related to Road, Drainage, and/or Water and Wastewater Utility Improvements.
  • Coordinating with other disciplines in the development of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinating with internal and external clients.
  • Occasional travel (up to 10% of time) for field work and meetings.
