About The Position

The Site Accountant position is responsible for standard cost accounting and reporting, ensuring accurate costing data and procedures. This role involves monthly inventory close, inventory reserves, bill of materials, and cost analysis, while collaborating with the finance team to process month-end close efficiently. The accountant will also liaise with manufacturing operations and financial staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Knowledge of financial statement preparation.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Proficiency in Excel skills, including v/x-lookup, index/match, pivot tables, sorting, filtering, and formatting.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research technical accounting issues.
  • Effective interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and accounting methods.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, preferably in the defense industry.

  • FAR/DFAR experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Updates and maintains records for labor and overhead rates, and bills of materials and routings to ensure accurate product costs.
  • Audits bills of materials and routings to ensure they accurately reflect production operations and perform time studies.
  • Ensures timely and accurate input of price changes.
  • Ensures the accuracy of inventory and reported results and assists with inventory cycle counts.
  • Calculates and maintains inventory reserves files.
  • Reviews labor reporting and costs, material costs, manufacturing overhead, freight costs, and returns.
  • Maintains accurate cost accounting records, correcting errors and discrepancies as required each month by performing analysis and taking corrective actions.
  • Ensures all financial transactions, transmissions, and reporting are completed on a timely basis and are accurate.
  • Assists with benchmarking, key performance indicators, dashboards for measuring financial and operating performance, and complex decision-making initiatives.
  • Supports management on plant production and costing issues, providing recaps with actions to be taken, and assists with operations meetings as necessary.
  • Assists with documentation, procedures, and workflows, analyzing purchasing contracts costs components, and cost efficiencies, and with year-end inventory physical counts.
  • Updates and maintains tooling amortization files and monthly journal entries.
  • Ensures adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and internal controls.
  • Helps prepare forecasts, annual and strategic plans, pro forma, and other financial scenarios.
  • Supports monthly and year-end close, year-end audit, journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliations including intercompany.
  • Maintains fixed assets records, including depreciation schedule.
  • Maintains and balances an interrelated group of accounts and subsidiary accounts in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Assists with account reconciliations.
  • Reviews, assesses, executes, and streamlines policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Monitors intercompany recharges to ensure they are complete, accurate, and transacted on a timely basis.
  • Ensures intercompany balance sheet and profit/loss accounts are fully reconciled and confirmed with counterparty entities.
  • Reviews weekly cash reconciliation between bank and book values.
  • Reviews month-end bank reconciliations, ensuring they are completed in full and all differences appropriately cleared.
  • Handles other Treasury projects and initiatives.
  • Supports US Government reporting as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
