What we’re looking for: This individual will support the SIS team, report to the NAM Region SIS Lead at our Port Neches Facility, and support regional sites from Lake Charles to Houston as needed. The primary objective of the SIS specialist includes maintenance and management of Safety Instrumented System’s (SIS) for our manufacturing sites. You will be supported by and support the SIS team and onsite trade crafts in the maintenance, software monitoring, and hardware upgrades to SIS systems to meet the demands of the IEC61511 lifecycle. This will include process improvements, live monitoring and trip reporting, turnaround support for function testing of SIS equipment and acting as a direct line connection to the maintenance PLC groups to provide needed efficiency upgrades allowing for improved SIS operation, maintenance, and KPI monitoring.

Requirements

  • AAS in Electrical/Instrumentation, Computer, Control Systems or demonstrated equivalent experience required ; AND 5+ years of experience in I/E and SIS operation/maintenance in oil/gas/chemical manufacturing. required
  • CSFT certification or equivalent demonstrated experience with SIS systems.
  • Must have a level of proficiency with SAP, Internet, Email and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards including NFPA 70, NPA85-87, UL508, IEC 61511, and ISA Standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of the following: Basic understanding of piping, mechanical, electrical, civil/structural construction.
  • Electrical/Instrument safe work practices include Lock Out Tag Out, Electrical permitting, JSA.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing plant operations with detailed knowledge of maintenance and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Detailed experience in low voltage wiring and control wiring best practices and hands on experience.
  • Software and networking configuration interfaces including TCP/IP, MODBUS, or direct I/O communication.
  • Startup and shutdown of SIS systems best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support team in development and quality control of existing/new functional safety testing procedures and processes.
  • Assist SIS engineering team with hardware lifecycle management upgrades of SIS systems onsite.
  • Interface with field SIS system maintenance contacts for development of hardware / networking changes upgrades.
  • Participate in SIS Lifecycle management including: Functional Safety Assessments Functional Safety Test Assessments and work processes.
  • Safety Integrity Level calculation tool reviews with engineering.
  • SIS databases QA/QC management
