As part of the Technical Services department within CAE’s Civil Training and Services division, you will perform all preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on several CAE and non-CAE flight simulators and associated devices at the CAE Orlando Hanger Blvd Training Center. Apply in‑depth knowledge of simulator and aircraft systems to analyze technical data, diagnose faults, and determine corrective actions. Develop familiarity with multiple aircraft types and simulator platforms used within the training center. Ensure all training devices continue to meet applicable regulatory and qualification requirements. Debug routine and intermediate software issues and implement approved fixes. Evaluate components and determine repairability versus replacement needs. Propose and implement temporary corrective actions while permanent solutions are developed. Assess simulator downtime impact and take appropriate action to minimize operational disruption. Install, test, and evaluate software updates and fixes. Provide technical advice and support to customers, escalating issues to management or specialized departments when required. Maintain effective working relationships with regulatory authorities and ensure proper technical information flow within the organization. Represent the company in meetings with customers and regulatory authorities as required. Manage sensitive technical and operational situations with professionalism and discretion. Recommend, develop, and improve procedures related to testing, maintenance, repair, installation, and configuration activities. Train and mentor junior staff on CAE standards, procedures, maintenance manuals, tools, and regulatory requirements. Provide ongoing technical guidance to less experienced engineers and technicians. Review work performed by junior staff to ensure compliance and quality.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience with simulator platforms and core technologies such as CAE Classic, CAE 7000XR, Simfinity™ Technology, and general electronics.
  • Strong understanding of the aviation training business and simulator operational environment.
  • Knowledge of local regulatory requirements, JAR and FAR regulations, Simulator Level C and D qualification requirements, and FTD Level 4, 5, and 6 qualification standards.
  • Experience participating in simulator certification and acceptance activities.
  • Advanced knowledge of QTG reading, interpretation, modification, and evaluation.
  • Experience reviewing OTM and ITM documentation.
  • Knowledge of configuration control processes and CAE libraries (e.g., CAE LIB).
  • Knowledge of Integrated Diagnostic Systems and simulation processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot at interface and component levels.
  • Knowledge of I/O cards, couplers, interfaces, amplifiers, power supplies, PLC and relay circuits, and avionics databuses (e.g., ARINC 429).
  • Experience with motion and control loading systems, including electro‑mechanics, servos, valves, pumps, actuator replacement, and motion tuning.
  • Knowledge of sound and audio systems.
  • Knowledge of simulator computer configurations (Host, Rehost, Visual, IOS) and experience maintaining simulator networks.
  • Working knowledge of Unix, Linux, Windows NT, TMS, RTS, and AIX operating systems.
  • Familiarity with real‑time software (RTS) environments and ability to perform module debugging, code updates, and script management.
  • Programming knowledge in C, FORTRAN, and Unix/Linux scripting.
  • Strong knowledge of visual systems including geometry, convergence, focus, and intensity.
  • Experience with visual cabinets and visual database implementation.
  • Knowledge of navigation procedures.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft systems including autopilot, flight management systems, engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Physical ability to: Constantly ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles. Constantly move into different positions, including working in confined spaces. Occasionally remain in stationary positions. Constantly adjust or move objects up to 30 pounds. Constantly communicate with others to exchange information. Constantly perform repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, or fingers
