About The Position

The Simulation Specialist at UPMC Corporate Quality is responsible for operating and maintaining simulation equipment at the WISER center and its satellites. This role involves supporting educational and research programming, ensuring the functionality of simulation technologies, and assisting with curriculum development. The position requires a blend of technical proficiency and communication skills to work effectively with healthcare professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or four years of college with emphasis in healthcare and healthcare technology or four years related experience.
• Familiarity with operation of personal computers is essential.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and audiovisual equipment is desirable.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a clinical setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical proficiency with all aspects of the operations, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, and minor repair of the WISER Institute and its associated equipment within one year of hiring.
• Assist in developing curriculum and educational materials for various training levels related to the WISER Institute.
• Maintain all equipment and ensure timely ordering and availability of supplies.
• Assist with scheduling and coordination of teaching and research with simulators.
• Operate or assist with the operation of simulators and task trainers for training sessions as needed.
• Assist faculty orientation to principles of simulation training technology and configurations.
• Assess equipment failures and remedy such failures in a timely manner.
• Work independently and reliably within parameters designated by the Director, Associate Director, and Operational Director.
• Carry out special projects as designated by the Director, Associate Director, or Operational Director.
• Interface with equipment manufacturers regarding troubleshooting equipment and systems problems.
