The Simulation Lab Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation, management, and strategic development of the nursing simulation lab. This role supports faculty and students in utilizing simulation and clinical skills lab resources effectively to enhance experiential learning and clinical competence. The coordinator ensures high-fidelity simulation scenarios, lab safety, equipment maintenance, and integration of simulation-based learning into the nursing curriculum. The Simulation Lab Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director of Allied Health and WATC-Health.

Requirements

  • Holds a current license as a registered nurse in the State of Arkansas.
  • Hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Have experience in clinical nursing practice.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing practices and clinical procedures.
  • Familiarity with simulation technologies and audiovisual systems.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty and support diverse learners.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Technical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintaining simulation equipment.
  • Abilities to include walking and standing up for up to twelve hours, bending, reaching, turning, listening, observation, and moderate to heavy lifting (max 50 lbs).
  • Must be physically and emotionally able to complete all job requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in simulation education or willingness to obtain within 12–18 months.

Responsibilities

  • Simulation & Skills Lab Management: Plan, coordinate, and facilitate simulation-based learning experiences for nursing students.
  • Operate and troubleshoot simulation equipment, including high- and low-fidelity manikins, task trainers, and audiovisual systems.
  • Prepare simulation scenarios in collaboration with nursing faculty to align with course objectives.
  • Oversee lab inventory, maintain supplies and equipment, and manage lab scheduling and use.
  • Instructional & Technical Support: Provide guidance and support to faculty in the design and delivery of simulation activities.
  • Assist students in developing clinical skills in both simulated and skills lab settings.
  • Set up and reset lab spaces for various clinical scenarios, ensuring realism and educational value.
  • Training & Development: Train faculty and staff on the effective use of simulation technology and equipment.
  • Stay current with best practices in simulation-based education, attending training and conferences as needed.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of student participation, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards related to simulation and clinical education.
  • Assist in budget planning and resource allocation for the simulation lab.
  • Maintains security and confidentiality of all records and examinations
  • Maintains office hours for consultation.
  • Participates in the campus wide activities in ways that benefit UAFS, the College of Health, Education, and Human Sciences, and WATC PN program, faculty, and students.
  • Develops effective working relationships within the WATC PN program, UAFS, College of Health, Education, and Human Sciences, and the Fort Smith community.
  • Participates in professional and community activities for the purpose of bringing education, service, and research findings together for the improvement of health care.
  • Consistently participates in scholarly and/or service activities.
  • Maintains a hard copy or digital copy of all lecture material on file in the WATC PN program.
  • Promotes the goals, objectives and reputation of the WATC PN program with the College of Health, Education, and Human Sciences, UAFS, and community.
  • Participates in continuing education programs to remain current in practice.
  • Promotes cohesiveness between faculty and students within the WATC PN program.
  • Submits goals for the coming year by the UAFS submission deadline.
  • Adheres to the policy relating to team responsibilities and completes the team task checklist as appropriate.
  • Selects appropriate clients for student clinical experiences.
  • Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and to provide leadership for subordinates.
  • Requires consistent on-time attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
