About The Position

The University of Utah College of Nursing (CON) seeks full time and part time faculty members to collaborate in teaching, curricular development, and integration of simulation pedagogy. Principal Functions and Responsibilities: This Career-line faculty member will use simulation to provide high-quality learning experiences to undergraduate and graduate nursing students. Primary responsibilities include organizing, facilitating and evaluating simulation events and programs for undergraduate and graduate students.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited nursing program is required.
  • A master's degree in nursing or related field is also required.
  • Relevant health care experience.
  • Expertise in clinical simulation: Experience and/or certification as Healthcare Simulation Educator (from Society for Simulation in Healthcare) or eligibility for certification within one year of hire. Experience facilitating high-quality simulation scenarios using HSSBP.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with other members of health care and academic teams.
  • Ability to work independently to complete projects.
  • Qualified candidates must hold or be eligible for a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in Utah.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor of Education (EdD), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or enrollment in a PhD, EdD or DNP program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop curriculum and facilitate simulation scenarios using Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSBP).
  • Contribute to developing and implementing a mentoring process for simulation faculty facilitators and simulation educators.
  • Collaborate with University of Utah Hospital simulation educators to develop and maintain supportive relationships among faculty and staff.
  • Assist in creating and reviewing simulation scenarios and programs to ensure alignment with HSSBP and national accreditation standards.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director of Simulation to maintain simulation operations, including staffing, equipment, and supplies.
  • Work closely with lead faculty of undergraduate Foundations of Clinical Nursing course; this will include teaching a clinical group one day per week (classroom and simulation center) and collaborating to prepare weekly lab set-up guides.
  • Develop and teach skills practice labs for undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Develop and lead community outreach activities (summer camp, HS tours, etc.).
  • Provide ongoing feedback for program and curriculum development
  • Assist in selecting, supervising, and evaluating simulation faculty facilitators
  • Participate on CON committees, and professional activities/service.
  • Developing clinically focused scholarship is an expectation for long-term retention and career advancement.
