About The Position

This safety sensitive position (SS) purpose is to maintain traffic signals.

Requirements

• High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, notes, letters and memos; ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.
• Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in situations of a routine nature.
• CDL license for equipment operated, Valid Driver License
• Basic: Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing

Responsibilities

• Monitors closed loop system to detect problem zones; conducts field inspections of computerized traffic signals.
• Performs work orders for signal upgrades, bulb changes, modifications, and preventive maintenance.
• Performs electrical duties, including wiring cabinets and signal heads.
• Operates computer system and peripheral devices.
• Maintains daily signal log.
• Responds to complaints concerning traffic signals.
• Assists with setting up road closures and detours as necessary.
• Operates a bucket truck to install and repair traffic signals.
• Assists with manufacturing, replacing, and maintenance of street signs as needed.
• Operating a city vehicle is required for the essential functions.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
