Troubleshoots electrical component problems with traffic signal; resolve problems and monitor traffic signal to ensure no further problems occur. Fabricates and installs school zone flashers at designed school; flasher is programmed and assigned an identification number; flasher is monitored and maintained for proper working order. Fabricates and installs missing or damaged signal related signs as needed. Responsible for placing signs at appropriate locations at construction site; flag traffic around work zone through communication with co-workers. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. Participates in on-call schedule.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Knowledge of M.U.T.C.D. (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices)
  • 2 years of traffic signal experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public and other employees
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • IMSA (International Municipal Signal Association) Certification level I obtained within one year of employment

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years previous traffic experience preferred
  • Electronic Background preferred
  • Commercial Driver's License preferred

Responsibilities
