Signal Integrity Senior Principal Engineer Our Electrical Engineering team puts the spark into the full hardware development lifecycle, from concept to production. It takes experts in system architecture definition, design, analysis, prototyping, sourcing & the debugging and validation of layouts or routes to deliver state-of-the-art products for a changing world. What you’ll achieve As a Signal Integrity Senior Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for driving innovation in the field of Signal Integrity (SI) pushing the boundaries of next generation high speed signaling. Dell’s SI team focuses on innovative solutions around portfolio-wide transmission line challenges in the design and support of enterprise server platform development. You will collaborate with Dell internal engineering teams and Original Design Manufacturer (ODM)s on Dell’s Power Edge Servers, AI Servers and storage products. You will:

Requirements

  • 12+ years’ experience as a signal integrity engineer or related skill; must include experience with server design and experience with both Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) and Double Data Rate (DDR) interfaces
  • Solid understanding of transmission line, electromagnetic field and analog/digital theory and principles and the ability to read and understand technical data sheets, circuit schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Experience with signal integrity 3D modeling and simulation tools (Ansys HFSS, Ansys SiWave, Keysight ADS)
  • Hand-on lab experience with TDR, VNA, and test/measurement equipment for signal integrity tasks and the ability to use Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics Xpedition, or equivalent tools for board layout reviews
  • Experience collaborating with customers and defining/executing solutions

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test and validate simulation models to ensure the accuracy of simulation results through correlation studies; perform analysis of electrical designs and simulate viable routing, material and interconnect solutions to define a "solution space" and develop design constraints for new high-speed interfaces
  • Devise optimized simulation strategies necessary to characterize worst case system conditions for high volume manufacturing and environmental variations
  • Participate in design reviews for platforms internal and external to Dell and provide guidance relating to signal integrity rules and best practices
  • Lead the development of electrical validation test plans for new technologies and assist in the resolution of signal integrity issues before they impact product delivery and/or quality
  • Engage with key technology and strategic suppliers to co-develop platform guidelines and simulation tools and to collaborate on future technology directions and ecosystem challenges associated with high frequency interfaces and materials
