About The Position

The Sign Team performs a variety of routine clerical tasks, including maintenance of file systems, logs, and records. Performs out of office duties including recording of video footage, installation and removal of informational signs for public and zoning meetings. All work is performed off-site on a daily basis and involves manual labor as well as extensive driving throughout Hillsborough County The ideal candidate is a strong team player with excellent communication skills and a natural self-start mindset. This role requires someone who thrives in independent work environments and is comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions. Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision are essential, along with a strong sense of accountability and attention to detail. The ideal candidate has driving experience relating to a past professional role. Candidates must be able to meet industry standards for high-quality sign posting and be physically capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 20 pounds frequently. This job posting will close once 45 applicants are received or by January 20th, whichever happens first.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of roadway sign installation equipment.
  • Knowledge of the preparation and application of materials used to fabricate the signs.
  • Ability to operate a camera phone.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps and aerial photos.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to maintain files and records.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle.
  • Ability to use a computer and related software.
  • Must be able to work outside in a subtropical climate in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel and crouch in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; AND
  • One year of clerical experience or experience assisting in a skilled trade and/or general maintenance work; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above; AND
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains logs and records of inventory, services performed, and documents received, and compiles information for use by others.
  • Reviews forms, documents and other materials for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provides assistance to staff and public as required.
  • Operates office equipment such as copiers, telephones and data processing equipment.
  • Determines appropriate sign locations and installs signs on roadway easements.
  • Drives to and from work sites for public functions, loads and unloads supplies and equipment, and performs minor safety and operational checks.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
