About The Position

Under the general supervision, the Sign Painter designs, creates, fabricates, and installs signs and banners in accordance with industry standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency AND
  • 4 or more years of sign painting/making experience, including operating vinyl cutter/plotter and applying vinyl graphics to various substrates and vehicles. Should be knowledgeable of techniques and materials used in fabrication of signs to achieve a professional appearance and in accordance with industry standards.
  • Signage Production Systems/Software proficient in computer software for sign production such as: Flexi Sign Pro and vision Pro 8. Also needs to be proficient in wide format printing. - Proficient
  • Valid Driver's License and a safe, acceptable driving record.
  • Must maintain the ability to qualify for a security ID badge.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews work orders to determine type of sign to be made, resources to be used and project specifications. Conducts inspections or site visits to determine specific needs.
  • Designs and fabricates signs based on need, standards/code requirements.
  • Creates ADA compliant signs (braille and raised text) based on current standards and codes.
  • Creates roadway signage using the standards in the Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Roadway Signs manual.
  • Creates airport/airfield signs in accordance with FAR Part 139 Regulations and other industry standards.
  • Works with tools, materials and equipment of the sign making trade, including but not limited to: computers, or other electronic equipment (laptop, tablet, IPAD), format printer, Gerber printer, laminator, engraver, vinyl cutter/plotter and small power tools etc.
  • Coordinates installation of signs, banners, and promotional materials in conjunction with the Sign Shop Supervisor and other WCAA personnel needed to perform the tasks.
  • Assists Sign Shop Supervisor in determining what materials and equipment are needed to complete projects and to keep in stock.
  • Selects the appropriate materials for signage, including but not limited to substrate, lettering, reflective, coatings, etc.
  • Utilize ladders or operate man lifts to install and hang signs and banners.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
